THE COIL
On a ring of fire, I saw the coil.
Shiny as a pearl in night and far
Talking to a stranger fruitful joy
“Close your eyes and seal your heart.”
In softer tones that I could hear
The laughter roared, the tears abroad.
I paced my thoughts to see my soul,
And all was dark, as I recall.
I saw the wind; I saw the toils.
Of human mind, the clouds of dawn
I saw the stern of others watch.
Claiming the truths where there was none.
The coil of wrath, the coil of mourn.
Was I in it, was I the cause?
The voice wouldn’t say, I was alone.
The words flew far, and I awoke.
Slumber free, I roamed the land.
I thought I saw where has begun.
The coil was you and them and I
The coil was man, and man must fly.
